My reasons for tutoring individuals include my personal desire to make a difference in someone else’s life. Our children are our greatest resource and legacy. If individuals are to succeed it comes from taking the time and patience to help them learn in an environment that is stress free, and at their level of learning and style. It requires building confidence in what they know, encouragement in advancing and teaching ways to further develop skills for success.
Throughout my life, I have worked in a variety of settings helping others to gain confidence in their learning. As a high school student, I listened and encouraged elementary school students in a reading program. As an adult, I have worked as a 911 dispatcher and help to improve training for all new dispatchers in a variety of methods; i.e. reading, audio, or hands on. I have been a 4-H advisor and developed projects to encourage learning new skills, a new subject or generate a child’s imagination to improve a current idea. In my current position, I was responsible for training new users in the financial software. I have 8 years of coaching experience at both the middle school and high school levels where we not only perform tasks, but learn new material. Learning should be fun and for many it can be frustrating. My goal is to reduce the frustration and help the individual to succeed. I graduated from Kaplan University Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with emphasis in accounting. I am more than willing to tutor in reading, writing, basic math or any topic you may need assistance with. I can also tutor you in crafts such as sewing, crocheting, or counted cross stitch. These items are my stress relief and my family has been the recipients of many loving home made items. Please let me know how I can help you, your child or another family member.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have crochet, knitted and cross stitch many projects for family and friends and sold items at craft shows for a couple of years. I have taught my daughters and friends beginning skills and have watched them succeed in making things for their families and friends.
My experience comes from teaching myself various sewing skills. I made clothes for my family, friends and sold my items as craft shows for a couple of years. As a 4-H advisor, I assisted my members with skill improvement and helped to judge completed 4-H projects during the fair.
