Hello, my name is Brian. I recently graduated from The Ohio State University with a Ph.D in physics.

I've been tutoring since my Freshman year at Kent State University for a wide range of math and physics, from Algebra to Calculus-II, as well as algebra-based and calculus-based Physics. After graduating, I came to OSU to pursue my Ph.D in physics.

For 2 and a half years, I have taught courses in physics and it has helped me grow as a tutor. I has shown me where students have misconceptions and where they struggle. It also has given me insight on to what teachers feel is important and I can pass that along to students so they can feel comfortable about why certain subjects/topics are important.

Tutoring requires a lot of patience and understanding, not just of the material but of the student. Each student will have different mental paths and ways of thinking, so I can and will adapt my teaching strategy to accommodate them. My job is to help them understand the material through examples and hints, not through doing the problem for them. Math and science are not easy, but with time and hard work it is very possible to do.

Great Tutor!

My daughter was dreading Calculus II and truly believed it was going to be her nemesis class. So much so, that after taking Calc I freshman year, she waited until senior year to take Calc II. Brian was very easy to work with and flexible working around our vacation schedule. He created a thorough review of Calc I prior to the start of her Calc II class to help get her ready. Weekly sessions with Brian enhanced her understanding of the material and helped her stay on track throughout the semester. And much to our surprise, she got an 'A' in Calc II :) Thank you Brian - you are awesome!!!

Extremely helpful & knowledgeable!

Our daughter, who is currently a Jr. in college, needed help in Physics II. Brian was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, -- so much so, that she proceeded to book several more sessions within the week to help her prepare for an upcoming test. Not only did she gain a better understanding of the material but her stress level has gone down considerably. Our daughter visits her professor during office hours, however, with limited time available and competing for that time with other students it makes things difficult. Brian really helped in a time of need. I just feel fortunate to have found him. Thank you Brian! Thank you also for being so smart and taking the time to explain (and being good at it)!

Great physics tutor

One thing I really liked about our lesson is that Mr. D. pointed out what the dot product actually means in physics (it is more than just an equation). I also really liked that Mr. D. took concepts from calculus and showed me how they apply to physics (the integral of a force vs time graph and it relates to momentum and collisions).

Knowledgeable tutor

Brian tutored my daughter in a College Physics class. She reports that he was well prepared and clarified the concepts of the lesson content she was having problems with and then working on problem sets. She feels more confident of the material, and has asked for additional lessons with Brian.

Great with analyzing problems.

Brian was able to simplify the main concepts we covered. I understood in one hour with Brian what took weeks for me to figure out on my own.

Professional and insightful tutor

Mackenzie reported the session went well even though I knew she was self conscious about the concept, and not overjoyed that I arranged it. It appears Brian has quickly assessed her and hopefully they are on the path to improvement.
