I do have some prior experience with tutoring students. Last year, I tutored an eighth grader with algebra. I have always received A's and B's in all of my classes, have passed the OGTs, and received a 22 on my ACT. I am going to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in education at a very accredited university within four years. I have also taken some advanced classes, such as A.P. Government and A.P. English.
My major is middle-level education social studies and math. I also plan to get certified to teach 4-6 English and science. I am now a senior.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra is most certainly my strong point in math. I took prealgebra and algebra both early in seventh and eighth grade, respectively. I received A's in both. I also scored an A in algebra two as a sophomore and again an A in an algebra class as a junior that used a college textbook. I took this many years of algebra, because I like the subject. I will be certified to teach it for fourth through ninth graders in four years after I graduate from the University of Akron. Math was also my highest score on the ACT.
Within the subject, I know the ins and outs of solving equations, graphs, the FOIL method, the quadratic formula and much more.
I have played basketball for all of my life, so I do have much experience with the sport. I was not the most talented, but I have learned a lot from my dad who is a coach. I will be a coach of the sport myself, eventually.
I know pretty much every aspect of the game. For example, I am aware of the importance of shooting and ball-handling. For shooting, I go by the acronym Beef. This stands for balance, eyes of the target, elbow straight, and follow through. As far as ball-handling goes, I know a number of exercises.
I also know the ins and outs of offensive strategy, such as man or zone offense. Plus I know many defenses, like man and zone defense and presses like 212 and 1211.
I was in band from my fifth grade year until my eighth grade year. My greatest strength is reading the music, and the instrument I know best is the snare drum. I also have some experience with the bass drum, the bells, and the tympani.
I am an education major at the University of Akron. The degree level that I am going for is 4-9 social studies and math. I do not have much teaching experience, but I do have a sister who is in first grade whom I have helped with homework. I also took a class entitled Fundamentals of Math for Primary Educators.
