My name is Brier and I want to help you succeed in all of your academic goals! Growing up I've always had a passion for teaching students, and I hope you'll consider allowing me the pleasure of helping you to succeed academically. I am proficient in mathematics (i.e., Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Algebra) as well as science (i.e., psychology). As a high school student, I took Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Calculus. Additionally, as an undergraduate, I took Calculus I, II and III. In addition to my mathematics background, I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in biology. Currently, I am in the process of finishing a master’s degree in psychology while also working to attain a doctoral degree in experimental psychology with a concentration in social psychology.
As a tutor, you can expect that I will be knowledgeable in the following subjects: Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Algebra, and Psychology. In addition, I will also be flexible in my approach to help you understand material. I am open to explaining relevant material in multiple ways until we find an approach that “clicks”. To hone this skill, I have spent considerable time as a tutor and substitute teacher (approximately two years). These experiences have exposed me to a great many students each with different needs and requiring different and creative approaches to reach while seeking to convey material in an easily understandable manner. I believe that my extensive experiences substitute teaching and tutoring to different needs across various subjects is an asset that you will be able to most benefit from.
Overall, I seek to provide you with an open environment where there are no “dumb” students or “dumb” questions. I will be flexible in my approach until we discover together what “works” for you.
