Kent State University (Biochemistry Premed)
I have much experience in tutoring. In high school, I would tutor frequently in subjects such as chemistry, physics, and biology. I also taught music lessons on the trumpet, baritone, and alto saxophone, as well as addressing music theory with my students. Although my profile states that I am a biochemistry major, I am also a music education and psychology major. I love school and am passionate about the subjects that I am studying.
I love tutoring because I love helping students find the same passion and success that I did throughout school. When a student lights up because he or she can finally understand a problem set, a concept, or play a hard run on his or her instrument, that is the most rewarding part about tutoring.
I have studied chemistry for the past 5 years and have a chemistry background. I have taken chemistry classes up to inorganic chemistry. Also, I have strongly studied psychology and have taken upwards of 20 hours of coursework in specific psychology classes.
I have spoken French for the past 6 years. By the time I graduated high school, I was speaking almost fluently. I hosted a foreign exchange student and had the opportunity to return to her family in France, and by the time I returned, I was speaking fluently. With me going to France as well, I not only know the language, but I also know and understand the culture.
I have played the trumpet for 13 years. I have studied under numerous teachers, including those who have played in ensembles such as the Cleveland POPS Orchestra and the Akron Symphony. I currently play in many ensembles at Kent State and study jazz here as a minor.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied trumpet for 13 years under many teachers, all of whom were professionals. Many played with prestigious orchestras. I have taught private lessons before, and an currently assisting in instructing high school jazz and middle school jazz ensembles.
