Language and education are two passions of mine, and I believe that learning more than one language is very important along with learning how to effectively communicate ideas in one's native language. Being raised bilingual and taking on Spanish as a third language, I have an affinity for language and writing.
I specialize in Spanish and English grammar, writing, reading, and vocabulary tutoring.
I have been learning Spanish for the majority of my life and although there is always room for improvement, I have reached a level of near-fluency in comprehension, speech, and writing. I am a senior currently minoring in Spanish at Kent State University where I have also taken classes in Spain along with living with a host family and interacting with them completely in Spanish. I have a strong grasp of Spanish grammar and an expansive vocabulary which spans a variety of topics. I have written several research papers in Spanish and studied the history and culture of the Spanish-speaking world as well.
I have tutored many friends in Spanish and writing papers in English and have also taught English to Spanish-speakers briefly in the Dominican Republic. Since I have also been a student in Spanish for so long, I have developed many mnemonic devices and other effective methods for memorizing vocabulary and understanding grammar concepts as well as techniques for writing papers in both Spanish and English.
I would love to help you reach your goals and share my love of language to help you communicate the written and spoken word more effectively. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
