Anderson University- Transition to Teaching, Elementary Education (Graduate Coursework)
My previous work experiences including a camp/riding instructor, registered nurse, title 1 aide, led to experiences in teamwork, organization, and problem solving. As a title 1 aide, I provided groups of elementary children assistance on literacy and mathematics. Through the transition to teaching program I earned a Indiana State Teaching License for K-5. I utilize hands on experience and connections to the everyday items/ideas to increase learning and the understanding of a subject.
I enjoy seeing the progress in my students, opening their eyes and lighting the spark of learning. Drawing on my experiences throughout life and my varied background I find creative ways to address problems and help my students. My teaching experiences have been in kindergarten, first, and third grades, with and emphasis on math and literacy skills in kindergarten. Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with my family, two cats, and riding our horse. I also teach English riding lessons with an emphasis on horsemanship.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
