Learning excites me, whether it occurs in my students, my children, or myself. I truly believe that, given a taste of knowledge and success, any individual can be inspired to great heights.
After leaving Goshen High School as valedictorian, I graduated Cum Laude from Denison University with a triple major in English, Latin and Education and then went on to earn my Master's in Medieval Studies from the University of Notre Dame. I continue to challenge myself and those around me on a daily basis, knowing that continued growth is both necessary and rewarding.
I have taught and am adept at all levels of high school English and also spent one year as an adjunct faculty member at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana. My study of Latin throughout high school and college has given me a deeper understanding of how language works, and one of my strengths is an ability to explain language in terms of logical structure rather than of complicated and fallible rules. I am also very knowledgeable about various testing formats and content thanks to my current position as English Department tutor at a local high school, where I provide remediation and enrichment toward student success on standardized tests.
I enjoy working with students at all levels. Those who struggle to keep up and those who consistently lead their peers feel the same exhilaration when they achieve a new level of learning. That is why I tutor.
