Bio

As a tutor, I've met directly with single students, working together on problems and solving them as we moved forward. As a teacher, I've used a similar, practical and experiential approach to engage and instruct groups of teens. Fortunately, one-on-one tutoring allows for a tailored, personal and individualized delivery of the subject matter. I appreciate that the most. I also find it incredibly rewarding when students thank me for my personal interest in their learning and for the specific...

I also find it incredibly rewarding when students thank me for my personal interest in their learning and for the specific things they've learned from me.

I majored in Law and Sociology and received minors in English and Psychology from Purdue University. Earned my MBA from Findlay with a 3.7 GPA in late 2014.

I have independently studied anatomy, physiology, nutrition, preventative dentistry and various math, science and philosophy subjects. I've kept all my textbooks and refer to them frequently.

My writings have been published in major periodicals, and I hold a Six Sigma Green Belt (advanced statistics). I also have a "Long-Term Substitute Teaching" license from the State of Ohio Board of Education in the fields of Integrated Language Arts and Integrated Social Studies.

Subjects

Art

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop

I've used different versions of Photoshop for years. Photoshop is a passion of mine and has helped save - even create - once-in-a-lifetime moments and family memories.

Business

Business,

Business

As a former executive, I have hands on experience. As a Master's of Business Administration student, I enjoy and perpetuate a 3.83 GPA.
Marketing,

Marketing

As a former marketing executive, I have hands-on experience. As a master's of business administration (marketing concentration) student, I enjoy and perpetuate a 3.83 GPA. Professional recommendations are visible on my LinkedIn profile.
Microsoft Excel,

Microsoft Excel

I have used various versions of Excel to create detailed ROI graphs, PowerPoint presentations, personal budgeting spreadsheets, comprehensive Word documents and accounting-formula homework guides. I use Excel for all my graphs and charts as it helps me (and everyone) easily visualize and manipulate data.
Microsoft PowerPoint,

Microsoft PowerPoint

All executives must be able to use PowerPoint. I am one of those. As a business student, nearly all of my classes require PowerPoint presentations, which I have created with great success. Over the years, my PowerPoints have been delivered to hundreds and hundreds of professionals.
Microsoft Word,

Microsoft Word

Trough classwork, personal correspondence and professional communications, I have created thousands of pages of Word documents across various versions of the program. These documents include press releases, technical, APA-style research papers and newsletters as well as envelopes, flyers and business cards. Its combination of fonts, layouts, image and table inclusion and formatting makes MS Word the perfect program for me.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

With and without PowerPoints, I have spoken to literally hundreds of people, including executives, sales reps, Social Security recipients, the elderly, children and the Iraq Ministry of Health.

Microsoft Outlook,

Microsoft Outlook

As a former executive, I have extensive hands on experience with MS Outlook. Admittedly, I am utterly reliant on Outlook for my scheduling, conferencing and email. MS Outlook is my go-to application to act as a personal assistant.

Grammar,

Grammar

I am the region's king of grammar. I refuse to end sentences with prepositions and I WILL correct students for using improper conjugations. Correct: “I’m talking about that,” and, “Woe is I.” If you say, “That’s what I’m talking about,” around me, woe is you!

Vocabulary,

Vocabulary

As a sesquipedalian, my propensity for generating concise and accurate communications is a source of tremendous pride. Of course, I speak well in everyday circumstances, too. I like words, consider myself a “wordsmith,” and regard a picture as NOT being worth 1,000 words (unless they are plain, mediocre and bland words).

English

English

Before graduating from high school, I had already earned a minor degree in English (Univ. of Findlay). I am a big fan of the language, the literature and composition. A picture is worth only 100 words or so if those words are artfully and carefully crafted.

History

Government & Politics,

Government & Politics

My long-term substitute teaching license from the State of Ohio Board of Education is for (among other things) Government. Business Law and Political Science are just two of the representative post-secondary classes I've enjoyed immensely and in which I've earned high marks.
Philosophy,

Philosophy

I love Philosophy. I engaged it as a hobby, and was but one credit short of having it as a minor (now THAT'S love - studying for the fun of it). It's fun! Classics an Pre-classics are my favorites, but I am well-versed in contemporary thought as well.
Social Studies,

Social Studies

My long-term substitute teaching license from the State of Ohio Board of Education is for Integrated Social Studies (and Integrated Language Art). One of my majors in college was Sociology. The other was Law. "Law" is essentially government, which is a large component of Social Studies as well.
Sociology,

Sociology

One of my majors in college was Sociology. I have also studied Social Psychology and done undergrad sociological research with Dr. John Stahura of Purdue University.

Algebra is easy. That doesn't mean teaching it is simple. Putting oneself in the shoes of a student - someone who doesn't know the first thing about Algebra - is crucial to teaching it. I can do that.

Psychology

I studied Psychology at Purdue and earned a minor degree in it. I didn't work for that, but I loved it so much, I inadvertently earned the accreditation. I started with Social Psychology and transitioned into Psychology proper. It was the greatest, most fun thing I did in college.
