My name is Michael. I graduated college with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I struggled with Calculus in my freshman year, but it was when I began helping my roommate with Calculus in my sophomore year, that I began to catch on, and it all seemed to make sense. I found that as I helped him, I was helping myself as well. After a few years as an Electrical Engineer for a defense contractor, utilizing algebra for electronic circuit calculations, I went into teaching as an electronics instructor at a 2-year technical community college. Once again, my math background helped in teaching the skills needed to master electronics circuitry. My current career is in software testing, which sometimes involves verifying test results with mathematical calculations. I have continued working on maintaining and improving my math skills throughout the years, and am able to teach various skills and methods to students that they may not be learning in school, such as doing calculations mentally; quickly, and accurately.
I also offer help with public speaking, a subject that is becoming more important in today's world. I have been a member of Toastmasters for over 20 years, and have achieved the level of Distinguished Toastmaster, a level awarded to less than 1% of all Toastmasters. I have served as a mentor to several, where I offered help in speech structure, content, and delivery.
I enjoy helping people learn; experiencing breakthroughs in understanding, and achieving their goals.
