I am a certified teacher with a Masters Degree in Special Education. While doing one on one or small groups with my current students, I love to break down their lesson and explain it in a way that they can understand. I work to build up student's confidence in their self and in their work. School can be hard and life outside of school can be hard, but I want my students to know that they have someone who cares and will always be cheering for their success!
After working with me, students are more confident and capable of completing their work independently and correctly!
I use different tools whether it be a hands on activity, a video, an on-line game, or various worksheets to give students a chance to learn or hear the lesson being taught in more than one way. Once we figure out which method works best for you, I will create a personalized lesson or plan that will help you understand your assignment.
Math can be difficult, but if we work together to understand the rules, methods, short cuts, operations and all the other strategies that come with math, math will become less of a challenge.
Just as I do with math, I like to use different tools to help the assignment be less complicated. Sometimes, a video, the use of a dictionary or thesaurus, re-reading the text, using high-lighters, listening to audio books, on-line games, or various worksheets can build your skills in grammar and literature.
I have created individualized plans that have helped students move up two to three grade levels on their standardized tests. These students have also improved their grades and are more confident in their ability to be successful in school. Allow me to share some of the keys to success with you so that you can be grow and show just what an amazing student you can be as well! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
