My parents were both professors, so teaching comes naturally for me. I love teaching and find that tutoring allows the opportunity for customized lessons, tailored to each students' goals and needs. I began teaching ESL in Tokyo, Japan in 2002, and I have been teaching English as a Second Language for over 10 years. I also have my B.A. Degree in Music. I tailor each lesson after an initial consultation to determine what the student's goals and aspirations are. I believe it is beneficial to have well-rounded lessons including conversation, vocabulary, reading, writing, pronunciation, and then focus on the area that concerns/challenges the student most.

As a tutor, teachers can develop lesson plans that benefit each student specifically showing improvement and growth more quickly. Due to the personal one on one nature of these lessons, the student is in a position to grow and benefit much more in depth than in your typical over-crowded classroom setting. This is what attracted me to teaching one on one or in smaller group settings. It is in this environment where students succeed, excel, and truly learn. You, the student, are what this is all about. If you find yourself challenged, and unable to get the attention you deserve in a classroom setting, then lessons with a Tutor may just be exactly what you need. I promise personally to listen to what it is you want out of lessons, and work with you in a positive, upbeat and fun environment to see that you achieve excellence.

I began teaching ESL in Tokyo Japan in 2002. I have loved it so much that I continue to teach today. My lesson plans are tailored to the individual needs, levels and desires of the student. One area my students particularly enjoyed was the Conversation Practise Lessons using English in everyday situations in life (shopping, ordering in a Restaurant, Speaking on the Telephone and using public transportation). My students continue to improve their Toeic and Toefl Scores through rigorous goal oriented lesson-plans.

My B.A. Degree is in Music. My Secondary Instrument is Piano. As such I had to Pass Juries and excelled in this area. I am a confident, fun, and creative Piano Teacher for the Beginning to Intermediate Level students. My Methods involve using the John Thompson Books as well as incorporating the Circle of Fifths into lessons early to build Music Theory foundations from the beginning. Above all, Lessons should be fun and growth will be evident with regular practise.

My B.A. Degree is in Music. I passed all Music Theory Classes and requirements. Ear Training requires special tutoring on a one on one basis for individuals who find it challenging identifying chords and Musical Compositions. I find students learn Ear Training successfully when incorporating the piano to show and learn about intervals, chordal arrangements and identifying the layers.

Sight Singing,

Sight Singing

My B.A. is in Vocal Performance (Opera) so Sight Singing was a crucial aspect of my training. It is necessary for all Musicians to be constantly striving for perfection-reading measures ahead, staying on top of all Key Signatures, and time signatures and changes, as well as maintainig that ever perfect pitch. I passed all Juries and excelled at Sight Singing. I use a variety of vocal exercises and arias as Sight Singing materials as a part of every Private Voice Lesson-incorparated into the Warm-up Process.
