Hello! Thank you for considering my services. Math has been a strong point for me my whole life. I took college calculus as a Junior in high school with no problems. After helping my fellow classmates through my most recent statistics class, I realized there are many very intelligent people who are struggling with math on a regular basis and just need a fresh perspective to make it click.
As the title suggests, my goal in our sessions will be to teach you the most down to earth approach to understanding your math courses. I'm very patient, and I've been helping my fellow students with their math problems since middle school. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I scored a 32 on the ACT my senior year, with a 34 in math, and having only taken the ACT once previously. Practicing the ACT requires time with the material as well as time with practice test questions so that the student is not only familiar with the content but the format as well.
My math skills allowed me to skip this course in high school, but I aced algebra 2 before moving on to college level math courses. Our sessions would focus on problems the student is having as well as problems I expect them to run into to help them comprehend more material while in class.
I am currently 24, and I have been a percussionist for 16 years. I was the section leader of the drumline in high school, and I gave lessons to middle school students during that time. My main focus is to give students fun exercises that help them work on the core mechanics and technique required.
Tutoring prealgebra is about reinforcing the basic concepts that the student is going to encounter in algebra 1 and 2. Sometimes it requires a lot of patience, and having taught many of my classmates as well as my nieces and nephews basic math concepts over the years, I can say I am very patient with any student.
