My name is Jeff and I have been in a Math Adjunct position for 15 years at Columbus State Community College. I teach basic mathematics and pre-algebra at the college. I absolutely love teaching! It is such a joy seeing people that might not be as strong academically in mathematics as they would like, and watching as they fight through and achieve some level of success in mathematics.
I have been tutoring for 10 years now. I tutor students through references from colleagues and/or friends of mine. I consistently receive positive feedback from the students that I tutor and from the students in my classes that I teach.
My approach is a common sense approach to teaching. I attempt to get to know the student. I want to know their likes and dislikes so as to try to incorporate the mathematics into their lives that would make the most sense to them. They will retain it more if it relates to them.
I have tutored seventh graders up to older adults, so I have experience with many age groups. I am very much a people person.
Thank you for the opportunity!

Jeff is enthusiastic about teaching students math. He connected well with our son and we enjoyed working with him. He was able to work around our son's schedule and meet with us at a location and time that was convenient to us.
Jeff is such a wonderful tutor and a great person. He is always so kind and patient with my son and he also likes to make the lessons fun. My child's teacher also noted at our last meeting that she has noticed an improved confidence in my child. I am so pleased that I found Jeff and could not be happier with the results!!
My son felt very comfortable with Jeff. He felt like he knew his math after we left and that has been a first all year. Thanks Jeff for a great session. We will be contacting you after spring break!!
Thank you so much for braking down some of the angles and to make sure I can learn from my own life in order to remember them. Looking forward to the next session.
I am very happy that I found Jeff to help me better my math skills so that I can pass an upcoming math test. He is patient and very flexible! He is willing to work with you with whatever difficulties your having and does it in a fun and logical way.
I despise math, and I avoid it at all cost, but after meeting with Jeff, I am beginning to see math in a new light and not despise it so much.
I used to feel that I was incapable of understanding math, but now, thanks to Jeff, I am feeling its not so hopeless and that I can get pass my hatred of math.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
