UW-Stout (Vocational Rehab)
Hello students and parents,
I would like to be your tutor as I enjoy helping people succeed. I am a very patient person and feel I am a good fit working with children who have special needs. When I work with you I will take lots of time to really get to know you so I know how best to help. I take everyone involved in your life into consideration and feel working together with your family as a team is the best way to benefit everyone. I want to offer my services and work with you on anything you may need. I have many areas that I am willing to help out with. It can be school work, study skills, daily living skills, social skills, behavioral help, and transitioning skills for the future. I want you to feel comfortable contacting me with any help you may need.
As far as my education and experience goes, I have an associate's degree in special education transitional assistant and bachelor's degree in Vocational Rehab with concentration in special Ed transition. I did all of my student teaching in the special education rooms. I have not held a teaching position, as I became a registered behavioral technician and work with children in clinic and at home doing applied behavioral analysis. I am currently in grad school to become board certified. I have 14 years' experience with autism/Aspergers and ADHD, have taken many classes, and went to many conferences to stay up to date.
I look forward to hearing from you or you parents and can't wait to start helping you succeed. Have a wonderful day!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken Autism 1 and 2 and Aspergers courses at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and other Autism courses while taking my special ed course work. I went to many conferences on autism and different interventions that may or may not work. I am currently a registered behavioral therapist for Ohio and have worked with students with autism doing Applied behavioral analysis. I also worked for 3 years in clinic and schools in Wisconsin doing the exact same thing. I am currently going to the UC to get my graduates degree in Education for foundations of ABA to get my BCBA.
On top of the education that I have had on autism, I also have a 17 year old daughter on the spectrum that has taught me more than any book could. She has given me the tools that I need to help others like her on the spectrum. I have worked with children as young as 3 years old all the way up to high school. Autism and Aspergers is my favorite area of special need to work as it is the widest spectrum and always keeps me on my toes. I would love to be able to help you and your child in anyway I can.
I feel I am qualified for special education because I attended UW Stout in WI for special education for 3.5 years. I finished up all special education academic classes and different student teaching experiences before switching to Vocational Rehab with concentration in special education transition. I feel I am well educated in being able to teach/tutor someone struggling with school, have it be finding different tools to accommodate them or work with the schools to help modify work if need be. I have worked with many different children with disabilities/learning disabilities over the past 10 years. I am currently working as a tutor with another company in Fairborn OH that has a wide variety of disabilities/learning disabilities and feel I make a difference in their learning. I would like to spread my experiences beyond my regular job and help other families.
