About Thomas

I have taught Physics at Wright State University for the better part of 20 years; for each student to have a chance of succeeding in physics, they had to know mathematics, and I would often describe in detail what they needed to know as far as math was concerned, including algebra, trigonometry and calculus. I also made myself available to the students for one-on-one help, which was tantamount to tutoring.

I also taught college algebra (which is equivalent to precalculus) as well as remedial math at Central State for a semester. As a graduate student at Clarkson University, I tutored Physics at the same time I taught physics recitations. I have more than the expertise required to teach the subjects listed in my profile. I also have the patience and compassion to help guide students through.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

Have taught college algebra at Central State (college algebra includes elements covered in the act), taught geometry and trigonometry in the course of teaching college physics at Wright State University.

Algebra 2

I have taken collegiate mathematics including matricial algebra as a matter of course in pursuing my physics degree.

Calculus

I completed 3 semesters of calculus as an undergraduate in keeping with the traditional syllabus of a physics student. In addition I took advanced courses in differential equations and differential geometry.

Physics

I have a Ph.D. in Physics.

Precalculus

I taught college algebra at Central State which included analytical geometry as well as polynomial equations and their manipulation. In the various physics courses that I have taught, I discussed vectors as represented in both cartesian and polar coordinates as well as introducing the concept of differentiation and integration of functions from a precalculus perspective.

Trigonometry

I have taken all of the mathematical subjects necessary for a physics degree and have taught trigonometry as a part of the college physics courses I have lectured in. I have also taught college algebra at Central State.
