I am a retired Major. I have used math as well as physics throughout my engineering career. I am proficient in the use of a number of computer applications which I use frequently. I worked for over 10 years as a software test engineer. My approach to tutoring is to first assess a student's strengths and weakness and start from there. I am known for my ability to make math understandable and fun.

Mike is very patient with my son and is able to keep his attention and focus during their lessons. He is prompt, courteous, and cares about what he does. My son is enjoying the lessons and seems to be improving.
Algebra is the main focus, and thanks to Mike, he is keeping Nick focused and getting him ready for the new school year
Mike has been tutoring our son for the second year (both 4th and 5th grade). We just received his 3rd quarter grade card – A in math! We have seen tremendous progress in our son’s math skills and confidence level since as a result of Mike’s work with him. He looks forward to his weekly tutoring sessions as Mike has patience and makes it fun by frequently incorporating my son’s area of interest (like baseball) into the lesson. I can’t say enough how Mike has took a stressful time for our son and family (greatly struggling with math at the beginning of 4th grade) and turned it into a success story (echoed by his teachers).
Mike has done an excellent job working with my daughter on her Math and Science. She is comfortable with him and likes the sessions. I am very happy with his performance and look forward to working with him next year.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
