Hi, my name is Mike. I'd love to help you get your grades up, or just get a better understanding of material you are struggling with! I tutored for many years at a "Math Resource Center" where students from all over campus would come in and get help with any kind of math problem. This has been great experience because it has allowed me to learn effective ways of teaching... I have definitely learned what works (and what doesn't!) My schedule is fairly flexible and I try my best to work around the time you have available, whether it's 6am or 10pm.
In addition to working at the Math Lab, I instructed Physics labs throughout undergrad and have several publications relating to nuclear detectors. Throughout my days at Michigan State I was employed by the National Superconducting Lab and was responsible for 3D designs of nuclear particle accelerators; this was an awesome experience and got me very involved with: electronics, chemistry, physics, computer programming and engineering. I immediately transitioned into grad school and got my Master's in Nuclear Engineering (while getting my pilot's license/instrument rating at the same time). I stay busy but I'm very passionate about learning and helping others to learn. Tutoring is especially fun because it keeps me "on my toes" and helps me to stay engaged with what is being taught in the math/science field.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken the AFOQT and scored in the 90s on each subject area of the AFOQT. The test determines that the member is qualified to be an officer in the U.S. Military. In addition, the test has components testing an applicant's knowledge of piloting and navigational skills. I am currently employed as an officer in the U.S Air Force and I have an instrument pilot's license.
I've got over 3 years of extensive use in MATLAB. I've written over 100k lines of code and compiled over 100 simulations for my graduate research. I also have experience in Simulink, which is a visual interface for MATLAB and shares a lot of the same infrastructure.
