About Eugene

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT ME

My name is Mr. Eugene. I am a resident of Dayton, Ohio. I earned my master's degree from Wright State University with a major in special education (Intervention Specialist) and Human Services. My undergraduate major is philosophy from Urban University Rome. Currently, my profession is teaching and providing specialized services to students with learning needs, while mentoring those with various behavior problems to help them attain their educational goals and fulfill their life potentials.

The goal of my services is to help my students make a connection between what they are able to learn (content), and what they are able to do (skills) to real life and work. As a result, I utilize various methods that include but not limited to: visual, direct instruction, coral responding, and student directed instructional strategies, etc. to aid maximum comprehension of my lessons.

I made the decision to be a reading tutor based on my strong conviction that in the world of today, in-ability to read makes it impossible for anyone to pursue and acquire achievement learning. Therefore, I will do whatever it takes and even go extra miles to work with my students to become good readers.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Reading

I have a graduate degree in special education/intervention specialist from Wright State University. I have eight years of tutoring experience. As an intervention specialist, I enjoy working with students on a one-on-one or in small group settings. My method as a reading tutor is to conduct assessments to determine where my student(s) need the most help; and then I will focus on those areas and deliver intensive lessons combined with mentorship, to ensure that the desired goal is achieved.

Religion

I completed three years of post graduate studies in Catholic Theology from Seat of Wisdom Major Seminary: Affilate of Urban University Rome.

I was raised as a Seminarian of the Catholic Church from minor to major seminaries where I studied and graduated in both Philosophy and Theology which are the required ecclesiastical courses for the Catholic Priesthood. For the eight years of my training, I was assigned on yearly internships working with families and youths on faith acquisition and development.

During my years of seminary internships, I organized retreats for parishioners, organized faith-based youth activity programs, taught catechisms for youths preparing for confirmation, and prepared children for first Holy Communion.

In addition to the above, I made home-home visitations and counseled families who have marital problems and other family crises.

I organized series of meetings and social activities to help the youths be motivated and volunteer to officiate as alter servers or other liturgical activities. Such activities includes but not limited to field trips, dinner nights and camping etc.

Special Needs

I obtained a Masters Degree in Special Education (Intervention Specialist)from Wright State University. I have three years experience as a full time Special Education Teacher/Coordinator; providing services such as: Specialized Instructions, Tutoring, Mentoring, and Assessments of students with special needs.

I have professional skills on providing specialized services such as: developing and implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP), Individualized Services Plan (ISP) and Transition Program Services for students with special needs and families from diverse backgrounds.

I have a series of Professional Developments, on Curriculum Development, Specialized Instructions, and Community Outreach Programs. I have a good understanding of Legal Issues regarding the delivery of Special education services.
