Bio

Hello! You can call me Julian. Last year, I graduated from Ohio State with a B.A. in Linguistics; I am proud to say that I was the first to graduate with a 4.0 in my department. Ever since, I have been working in education. I've been a substitute teacher, a volunteer ESL teacher, an intern for a summer program, and now tutor full-time.

For most of my work, I have taught language in one way or another. While being a substitute teacher, I taught English and Language Arts classes, and for the summer program, I held creative writing workshops. Aside from this, I've also done some volunteer work, such as holding writing workshops for juvenile inmates.

I have knowledge and experience in a variety of subjects; besides linguistics, I also focused on Jewish studies, philosophy, and cultural studies. For cultural studies and philosophy, I have published articles in these topics, using philosophy concepts to analyze pop culture. I have also given lectures to college clubs before on a wide range of topics, spanning from the Sabbateans to the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze. For Jewish studies, I have translated portions of the Bible from the original Hebrew, and I have also translated Aramaic incantation bowls.

Outside of academia, I am very passionate about music. During my entire time at college, I was also making hip-hop music and performing in my city. I've raised money for charity shows, held volunteer workshops, and most recently, I was teaching kids how to rap at Freedom Schools.

Whatever help you need with language, I can provide it. Whether you need somebody to proofread your essay or you need help understanding grammar, feel free to message me.

About a year ago, I graduated college with a B.A. in Linguistics. Studying English grammar was a big part of the curriculum. After graduating, I became a substitute teacher and worked in English classes. At the same time, I was a volunteer ESL teacher for students in Syria. Now, I work full-time as an English tutor on many platforms.

Linguistics

I have graduated from Ohio State with a B.A. in Linguistics. During this time, I studied multiple areas such as phonology, syntax, and semantics. I have also studied sociolinguistics and historical linguistics. In the field, I was part of a project looking at Kohistani Shina, and on my own, I have done many independent studies in philosophy of language.

History

Bible Studies,

Bible Studies

I studied linguistics in college; while doing this, I also minored in Jewish Studies. Specifically, I had an interest in Jewish magic and mysticism, and I have translated multiple texts from Hebrew and Aramaic. From Hebrew, I have translated Ruth, Jonah, sections of Genesis, and sections of Zechariah; from Aramaic, I have translated sections of the Talmud, certain Dead Sea Scrolls, Some Midrashim, and a couple of incantation bowls. I have also translated the book of John from Greek, though I am not as familiar with Greek.
Philosophy

Philosophy

I have studied philosophy for years in many different contexts. At my community college, I had a focus in philosophy, taking basic classes like logic, ethics, and so on. After this, I went on to study linguistics at Ohio State and here, I did a lot of work in continental philosophy, post-structuralism, philosophy of language, and the like. Eventually, I wrote some articles, particularly ones using the work of Michel Foucault and Wilfred Bion. Aside from that, I've given lectures on both the Russian philosopher Valentin Voloshinov and the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze. Even though I have a focus in continental traditions, I am also familiar with analytic philosophy as well.

Very patient and helpful

Julian was very patient and knowledgeable when helping me edit my essay. He always made sure that I was doing the editing so that it would be my work in the end.

Patient and knowledgeable

Super helpful with understanding Grice, Russell, Strawson, and Frege especially on short notice. Julian was accommodating to a past minute schedule and patient with explaining difficult concepts. I really appreciated the help with the reading material.
