My name is Iris and I am a third-year student at the Ohio State University studying psychology, with hopes of going to medical school. I graduated top of my class in high school, earning the Schraeder Engineering scholarship relating to math and sciences, and scoring in the 99th percentile in the ACT as well as the SAT with a 4.3 GPA. I have continued my academic success in college, being a member of the Health Science Scholars, Phi Delta Epsilon medical fraternity, and earning a spot on the Dean’s list through many semesters. I am a research assistant in the Depression Lab, at University Hospitals, and am a peer tutor in the chemistry department.
What I love about tutoring is aiding in others successes, and helping them to achieve their goals. Helping others is something I am passionate about, and do so through volunteering and tutoring. I have been a tutor informally for 6 years, as I started tutoring in high school for fellow classmates and participated in mentorship and tutoring programs in elementary and middle schools. Here, I assisted students from 5-14 years old in a one-on-one fashion. Making sure you know the foundation before expanding on your knowledge is something that I put a heavy focus on, as it will help you to succeed in many areas throughout your academic career. I like to break concepts and ideas down into smaller pieces, and utilize example based teaching, repetition, and positive reinforcement, while remaining very patient and compassionate. My areas of expertise include math and sciences, up to calculus and college level chemistry and biology.
I want to help students feel confident and comfortable with material as they navigate through schooling. I am very accommodating, caring and will do whatever it takes to get you to where you need to be. I am easy to reach, and will respond back very quickly. I want to be of assistance and available to you as much as I can.
