Hi, students of all ages! I'm a creative teacher of many subjects. I started teaching in middle school, really! My great teachers allowed me to go to the 1st graders and help them read, after I completed my own work. I also accompanied our multi-school choir, traveling with my music teacher to help rehearsals go well. By 7th grade, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I had great teachers who encouraged me at every step - through high school, where I graduated as a valedictorian.

I've studied music education in both vocal and instrumental disciplines. That means that I can teach almost any instrument or voice (at a beginning level). I'm most expert in piano, organ, guitar and strings. I also studied Linguistics (ESL) and have a passion to understand people of many cultures. I lived in Japan for two years - teaching English and Bible while loving the hospitality and kindness of the people there.

Back in the US, I worked many jobs, and got married, becoming a mom. I love kids of all ages, and love teaching school aged kids and being a musician. I really love teaching music! Currently, I use fun, tools, and tech to teach the best online lessons you could imagine! If you need tutoring in other school subjects - I'm there for you.

I love teaching music! It's the language that communicates without words. My students feel loved and appreciated, and I strive to draw out THEIR abilities instead of using a packaged approach. If you have a different way of thinking or approaching music, I'm an expert at tailoring my lessons for maximum fun and satisfaction. I'll keep you on task, while helping you manage your own practice times for improvement every week.

My best joy is seeing that "light bulb" over your head. I'm committed to helping you keep on track to becoming a joy-filled musician - whatever the venue. Come explore the language of music with me!

I can't wait to meet you, and help you become a better person, musician, and student. Since we're mostly online right now, be assured I'm prepared to make

Composition (Music)

Do you go around humming your own melodies? Or do you hear different ways to cover an existing popular or classical song? Do you love mashups? I can help you harmonize those melodies, notate those harmonies online using current tech, and produce your sound for your own listening pleasure or to sell to others. I have extensive music theory teaching experience - and I've even taught as an undergraduate in college. I love the language of music - and will help you express yourself in your own unique way.

Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I have experience explaining difficult passages from the Bible in simple terms - especially to preteen, teen and adult learners. I'm a learner also - but am skilled in drawing my students out and asking questions or highlighting text to facilitate discussion. I've been trained by The Navigators in various methods of studying the Scriptures. My best skill is using a concordance and the Bible to find all verses using a certain word, and consolidating those references to an effective description of the topic. Give us a few minutes with a Bible and a concordance (online or paper form) and we can go anywhere! The Author Himself will bless our time!

General Music

Music is the universal language! I am expert in relating music to all subjects in life, and can make music relevant to you right now. I taught with media creation "before it was a thing" - using cartoon music videos to teach design, production and teamwork in music study and presentation. General Music is never boring with me! I can help you see how our world history has shaped the music on your current playlist.
Guitar,

I have experience playing with groups - accompanying in Japan, in small groups, and in school. I can teach both beginners and music theory to advanced guitarists. My style is enhanced by the fact that I enjoy learning more guitar skills while I teach.

I have taught Music Theory on the collegiate level - even while I was a student. Analyzing why a song is great is something I enjoy and can help a student enjoy as well. If you want to grow in your appreciation of great music, reach out!

I've taught many students who want to succeed in Elementary, Middle, or High school orchestra. From the very beginning I emphasize proper technique. Also, lessons are FUN with me! I have a five-track approach - using current tech to help you learn literature, scales, theory and composition. Along with your core songs, you can also request, within reason, to play your favorite popular songs!
