I am a former National Merit Scholar and graduate of Washington University in St. Louis now invested in helping high school students maximize their PSAT/SAT/ACT scores. I know firsthand the difference that significant gains in test scores can make with the regards to admission and financial aid. And I also know how painful test prep can seem. However, I pride myself on engagement and rapport with my students. I get emotionally invested in the progress and scores of my students, something that is reflected in the consistency in which my students significantly increase scores and surpass their targets. Test prep does not have to feel like a chore!
I have been doing test prep for the past two years, so while I may be a bit fresh, I am extremely familiar with the past decade of tests and their evolution. In this time, I have taught over 2,000 hours of test preparation, in both classroom and 1-on-1 settings. And I have found that, contrary to the scare tactics of the large companies, scores can be significantly raised in just a a few short weeks of tutoring sessions.
I have tutored at all levels of math from 6th grade to college-level calculus. I enjoy showing students how math works and seeing that moment everything clicks. But I also know that college entrance exam math cannot be attacked like a subject test in school. I am as comfortable teaching difficult mathematical concepts as I am teaching tips that best improve scores.
