Hello!
I am a seventh year Ph. D. student in mathematics at the Ohio State University looking to tutor you or your child in mathematics online with video conference software. Interaction with and empowerment of students through teaching and tutoring is far and away my favorite part of being a doctoral student. This suggestion to use video conferencing software is made in line with the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines published by the CDC. With video conferencing software and my touchscreen laptop (not a tablet - we will be able to see each other’s faces as we’re writing), I can write down steps with a program like “Scrble” and have my handwriting broadcast live via screen sharing to the student I’m tutoring while providing commentary and clarification the student can hear and allowing the student to ask questions (and have them answered) in real-time. As a result, I believe I can create an experience nearly identical in quality to in-person tutoring.
Regarding my background, I have nearly 6 years of teaching experience in courses at OSU including Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus 1, Engineering Math A (Calculus 2 for Engineers), Calculus 3, and Mathematical Topics for Engineers (a mix of Calculus 3 material, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations, and Partial Differential Equations). My teaching has earned me the Phil Huneke Excellence in Teaching Award from the OSU Math Department (April 2019), and I would be happy to provide proof of my receipt of this award upon request. I have also been a grader for upper-division Probability, Abstract Algebra, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations for Engineers, Honors Probability, Honors Differential Geometry at OSU and done private tutoring over the span of 13 years for a wide range of mathematics, including all levels of middle school mathematics, all levels of high school mathematics (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus AB/BC), and many college and university mathematics courses (College Algebra, Precalculus, Ca
