I am Taylor! I am a currently a third-grade lead teacher at KIPP Columbus Elementary. I have been a teacher for the past five years in the United States and abroad. Being a teacher has taken me all across the globe, and I have taught many different students in several different grade levels. I have studied the common core curriculum extensively in both reading and math. My deep knowledge of content allows me to plan for rich, and engaging lessons with students. My favorite aspect of tutoring is witnessing the growth that happens, when working with students, and the confidence that builds in my students.
I have taught elementary math in all three lower grade levels, and I am well versed with the common core curriculum. I have +25 plus hours of math curriculum design and implementation. Most importantly I have worked with a diverse range of students, whose struggles range greatly. One of my greatest skills is my ability to connect with my students to diagnose their misconceptions around math.
As a third grade teacher I know the skills students need to successful readers. Being a young reader, particularly those struggling, is difficult for students and can result in a negative experience with learning. My greatest skill as an educator is my ability to build my students confidence in their reading through activities, targeted instruction and engaging material.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
With a background in elementary education, I have been teaching elementary math for the past five years. I have taught math in first, second and third grades! Because I have taught math in all lower elementary grades, I have a vast knowledge of math education.
