Are you looking to achieve proficiency in the Spanish language (spoken and written) for work, travel, or to pass that test with flying colors? Let me help you! I studied Spanish formally for more than seven years, and lived in Mexico for a year to complete my fluency.
The best part of learning a new language and culture is opening your possibilities for communication, knowledge and productivity! I'll help you to not only learn a new language, but understand the nuances involved - figures of speech, cultural norms, and much more. Whether you're looking to pass a test, travel to a foreign country, or land a new job, I can help! I have past experience teaching and tutoring, and I know how to keep the lessons fun and interesting.
I also completed my undergrad degree alongside classmates from Spain, Argentina, Chile, Peru, El Salvador, Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela - so along the way I was able to pick up the many nuances of each culture, which ultimately show in the language of each country. I can help guide you in learning the words and phrases you need to have a universal Spanish vocabulary, as well as understand the important aspects of each individual culture.
Previous experience: I had several teachers in high school and college who were native Spanish speakers. I studied abroad in Rome for two years where I lived in a commune where we mainly spoke Spanish. I then lived in Mexico for a year, where I was able to become fluent - I taught language courses to sixth graders while in Mexico. After coming back to the States, I was involved with Madrid Language Services, teaching an intermediate Spanish course as well as offering tutoring to several students.
I know what it's like to learn both in the classroom and through immersion, so I bring the best of both worlds into my teaching methods. Learning will be challenging, fun, and interesting! And, best of all, you'll be speaking, reading and writing Spanish in no time!
Please contact me with any questions - I'm always happy to offer an evaluation to see where you are, get to know your goals, and map out an efficient plan of action to get you started down the path to fluency in Spanish. ¡ánimo! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have previously taught and tutored Spanish before, with a high satisfaction rating from my students.
Having studied Spanish all through high school and college, and then having the immersion experience speaking the language, I possess a solid background in education. When it comes to tutoring, I can offer academic assistance with reading, writing and speaking Spanish fluently. My tutoring methods are easy to follow and extremely efficient in helping my students to master the language at any level.
