As a certified PreK-3 teacher - Early Intervention Specialist, I have been in the teaching profession since 2009. I serve PreK-3 students in order to help them develop and increase their critical thinking skills in the areas of language, reading, and math. I use a combination of teaching strategies. which is based on the individual profile of each student.

Individualized Instruction via tutoring, is an invaluable tool that paves the way for success, confidence, and independence for the student. It also provides an avenue for systemic and explicit teaching in a small group and/or one -one teaching format. Tutoring provides the students an opportunity to receive immediate feedback and revisions to the lesson plan as needed.

I have a BS degree in Special Education Early Intervention in the areas of Language/Reading from the Ohio State University (OSU) College of Education and Human Ecology. The College provided numerous opportunities to study and use explicit and systematic language/reading instruction in reading/tutoring labs and student teaching, Our reading instruction spanned the continuum of Phonemic Awareness, Phonics Instruction, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension, and Writing.

I have excellent knowledge and use of the Common Core Curriculum by attending state and local workshops and seminars which instructed teachers on the standards and how to implement these using different teaching strategies, including but not limited to integrated computer technology.

My teaching experience over the past seven years includes working with a diverse populations--ESL students, and at-risk populations in urban settings. I have also have experience teaching special education students who have documented mild to severe learning disabilities.

The education provided by OSU in the use of explicit and systematic phonics instruction and the ability to do observational and evidence-based research on the use of phonics, has been a great tool to use the classroom environment. These experiences have helped me in the class, especially when I have to differentiate instruction with the general, ESL, at-risk, or learning disability populations.

If you want a teacher who has a strong commitment, dedication and experience in PreK-3 Education, please feel free contact me. My daily schedule allows me to return your text after 3:00 M-F and after 12 Noon on Saturdays and after 5 on Sundays.

I have a BS degree in Special Education Early Intervention in the areas of Language/Reading from the Ohio State University (OSU) College of Education and Human Ecology. From 2013 to the present, all teachers in Ohio have been asked to submit a Teacher Professional Growth Plan which assesses and measures teacher growth. The plan measures Teacher and Student Performance. Each of the indicators must average 50% on each, with an overall rating of 100%. For the past three years, my overall score has been 100% which reflects how well I understand and how well I am able to teach The Common Core Kindergarten Curriculum. It also indicates how well students are able to understand and use what they have learned to pass benchmark and national achievement tests. These tests are aligned to the Common Core Curriculum and measure student growth from the beginning to the end of the year. The majority of students tested in our class, which was and ELA population, were able to achieve at least a 10 plus growth score based on skills the mastered from the Common Core Curriculum.

I have a B.S. in Special Education/Intervention Specialist and am certified in Pre-K - 3 in the common core areas of Language-receptive and expressive communication, Reading, and Math. I use various teaching strategies, which include but are not limited to guided, direct, large and small group, and one on one instruction. I have considerable experience in teaching ESL students using differentiated instruction and integrated technology in language math, and reading. As an Intervention Specialist, I have experience in using informal assessments for learning disabilities and also have experience in writing IEP goals and objectives.
Phonics,

Phonics

Direct Instruction (DI) is a great tool for phonics instruction. This paves the way to learn word families and rhyming words. Adding site words to the word families is a great way to read words and then read sentences. Students can read sentences and then begin to read leveled readers. So using this method, which I've done, seems to be reliable tutoring strategy for at risk and struggling readers.
