I worked with Columbus City Schools and Reynoldsburg City Schools. I was a math tutor at Rosehill Elementary. I drove a school bus for 8 years. I was a Latckey Teacher for 6 years. For the last couple of years I substituted. During the summer break I worked with Godman Guild as a Job Coach. I also worked for the Department of Rereation and Parks during the the summer. I have been working youth for over 20 years.
What makes me a great tutor is I really know that everyone learns differently. I love presenting math visually, through songs and/or manipulatives.
I believe what makes me a great reading tutor is my tone of voice used for creating a comfortable reading experience. Children can feel when you are disappointed with the process or even them.
Spelling can be fun for children if you turn it into a game. A good tutor makes learning exciting.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
