About Ashley

My love of education came from a love of always learning something new. I am a second year student at Capital University studying Education. I am studying both Early childhood (pre-school to 3rd grade) and Special Education (k-12). I enjoy working with children and watching them reach their goals. I understand that it is a little hard to understand subjects taught in schools but with time and help from both teachers and outside help (tutors) in time the subject becomes easier to understand.
I had done some tutoring through one of my classes which had us work with the students in a program called Helping Kids Succeed with math. One of the major reason I enjoy helping students is the look they have on their face when they finally understand the subject it's a sense of achievement they have reached and that's the goal. That is what I love the most about helping students, not just seeing them reach your goals you set for them but also seeing them reach the goals they have set for themselves.

Reading was always a subject I was good at in elementary and it is the subject I work with my sister on.

Common Core is what I will be teaching after college and have the materials to do math and reading so far.

I have prior tutoring in math thanks to the time in the Letting Kids Succeed program.

I work with my sister who has mental retardation and ADHD, so I understand the amount of time it takes. I am also able to create little games or activities to catch their attention and help them learn.

I may not have very much professional experience but I am a good tutor. I do look forward to hearing from students and working with students and their parents.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary Math

Elementary math is a subject that I will be teaching once my schooling is over I have a Mathematics book that shows how to explains elementary mathematics which is a tool I will use to help students understand what they need help understanding in mathematics.

Ashley did a great job with my grandson. She is proving to me she is very knowledgeable about teaching him to read and he's enjoying it!
