About Linda

I have been involved in teaching either through private lessons, K-12 music in the schools, or teaching adjunct college classes and lessons since the 1980s.

A student of mine whether studying jazz/rock/blues piano, percussion, or just music theoretical concepts will get a thorough education on the subject matter and also some insights to the music business based on my experience as a professional performer.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Composition (Music)

I am a published composer with ASCAP.
I have had original compositions published with Permus Publications (Linda Dauwalder).
I have taught music theory at the college level as an adjunct (Ohio Wesleyan).
I have a personal interest in composition.

Drums

Percussion was my major in undergraduate and graduate school.
I have performed professionally and semi-professionally for a number of years in situations ranging from pit orchestras to rock/jazz/blues bands.

I have taught percussion at the college level, also.

Piano

My minor area of study was jazz piano at the college level.

I am also a national Hammond organ artist through an area organ company.

I released 2 CDs nationally through Summit Records/Chicken Coup records as a jazz Hammond B3 artist.
