I believe in a student centered approach to education. The hardest part about education is that no student is the same and it takes the application of many different strategies to reach every student. In tutoring sessions one can expect to use many different learning strategies to help the students understand the information. I feel that the more ways you are able to think about and understand a topic, the deeper the understanding of the information becomes. In my teaching experience, I have found that technology and visuals have been a key not only to keeping the students interested, but in helping them retain information. I use the internet program Prezi to create presentations embedded with videos, pictures, maps, and diagrams which can be accessed by the students at any time. Also, in my teaching experience, I have practiced multiple assessments and activities in which I feel help aid in the learning experience. I am an advocate for short answer and application type questions because I feel it develops and tests for a deeper understanding of the information and requires the students' to understand, as opposed to memorize the information. The application of the learning is what is the most important after all.
