Hello! My name is Andy and I want to help you if you are learning English as a second language, or if you are a native English speaker looking for some help with grammar, vocabulary, writing style, or proofreading. I can also help you learn to speak, read, and write Russian. I have a Ph.D. in Slavic Languages from OSU, and am fluent in Russian, having lived and worked in Moscow. Whether you are a beginner or are at a more advanced level, I can teach you this important world language. I understand exactly the unique challenges facing English speakers learning Russian -- since as a native English speaker, I faced these same challenges when I began learning Russian.
My lesson plans are suited to your individual needs, and involve a variety of interesting and relevant materials. Hello! I am having issues with pronunciations, rolling and understanding unique Russian letters. Andrew was very patient, and caught on very quickly in how to help me. I look forward to meeting with him more!
Andrew helped me proofread my paper, he is very patient. He can correct many mistakes of my common mistaken use of the,a and an. And also make my sentences concise. He is a good tutor.
Andy provides a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere for learning. Students can make mistakes (which is often when learning Russian) without feeling intimidated. He recommended a textbook that allows us to progress in an organized manner, without feeling overwhelmed. Happily recommend.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
