I attended UCSD in California for my BA in Mathematics - Secondary Education and M.Ed in Curriculum Design. I have loved working with and inspiring students to ascend the heights of mathematics since I was in high school. They are our future and worth every ounce of … Read more

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

In 2003, I completed a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at the University of California San Diego. In 2004, I completed my single subject teaching credential for math which qualifies me to teach every math topic offered in K-12. Since 2003, I have been teaching and tutoring students from all backgrounds in Algebra I, II, Geometry, and the new Integrated Math courses aligned with the Common Core standards.

Since 2003, I have been teaching and tutoring students from all backgrounds in Algebra I, II, Geometry, and the new Integrated Math courses aligned with the Common Core standards. As the gateway courses to higher education these courses are integral to every student's education and much care must be given to acquiring the topics.

The major in mathematics at UCSD covers the entire Calculus sequence. This includes single and multi-variable calculus, differential equations, vector calculus, and linear algebra. I have tutored college students in these areas before.

Geometry presents students with a heavily visual type of thinking for the first time in math and students must develop both visual spacial reasoning and deductive skills in order to excel at Geometry. As with all math courses, making connections to prior knowledge will help as well.

Having completed both a BA in Mathematics and Masters in Education along with a teaching credential from UCSD I am well qualified to teach every math topic offered in K-12. Since 2003, I have been tutoring students from all backgrounds in Algebra I, II, Geometry, and the new Integrated Math courses aligned with the Common Core standards. I have also designed and developed curriculum that meets state requirements based on Common Core standards.

As a Pre-Calc student you will deal with the intricacies of multiple functions both in behavior and application, especially trigonometric functions. These prepare a student for the rigors and pace of calculus.

Precalculus is little more than an extended Algebra 2 course with much more Trigonometry and graphing functions. Many of the topics are the same yet more in depth. As a Credentialed math teacher with a degree in Mathematics I am qualified to teach this class in public schools.

Trigonometry is a challenging course yet mostly depends on memorizing certain key identities at which point it becomes a trivial algebra pursuit. The bachelors in Mathematics-Secondary Education at UCSD prepares potential teachers for every area of math that is offered in Jr. through High School. Tutoring for this course is one of my personal favorites.
