Whether you are reluctant in algebra or excited about chemistry, I will find the hooks to help you connect the topics. I finished college with a double major in physics and biology and then became a high school physics and environmental science teacher. After four years teaching, I returned to grad school to pursue a degree in geography and now work as an environmental consultant. In college I balanced academics with fun by rowing crew, working as EMT, teaching skiing, and working in the stadium. Sharing my time between academics, team athletics and customer service, helped me evolve from my academic focus in high school roots to become a successful student then teacher.
In my freshman year at Syracuse, I worked for a national SAT prep company, and stayed with them for 8 years before breaking out on my own. During those years I worked with hundreds of students in Massachusetts and New York and received consistently exceptional reviews. I still teach SAT and my students make significant gains, but particularly enjoy supporting sciences, math and helping improve general studies. The opportunity to work with students over months and years has been rewarding as I learn the city and see students succeed.
I'm mostly available in the evenings and on weekends. I travel for work about a week a month - but I'm flexible with my schedule to minimize disruption. Whether you are reluctant in algebra or excited about chemistry, I will find the hooks to help you connect the topics. I finished college with a double major in physics
The $40 rate is per 1.5 hour session at my house in Williamsburg (nice neighborhood adjacent to L train). Travelling to your location incurs additional $20.
After Blair and us made arrangement, he bought the book that my daughter uses for her physics AP study. Not every tutor does.
Blair prepares for each session (2 sessions so far), and he tried to make physics interesting. He takes feedback very well and continue to improve the session based on the previous one.
He went thru the concept in each chapter well, always with examples, and he tested my daughter with typical problems to make sure she understood.
Blair is honest, he does not over charge the time he spent with student, he actually gives more time and charge less!
Thanks for your good work, Blair.
Easy to reach and very accomodating. Did a great job in a short amount of time and was very help. Strongly recommend.
I greatly appreciate how everything has started so great! Blair arrived on time. My son had a fabulous lesson. Brett really liked Blair and his teaching style. I appreciated Blair's preparation and set-up emails. That got us going! I am a single mom and I don't have a lot of time. Working with Blair has made it possible for us to start the PSAT tutoring process even so. Thank you very much! We look forward to working with Blair!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
