Kent State University Kent, Ohio (Art Education)
I possess a strong dedication to the development of children and strive to provide the best education through positive learning experiences. I developed lesson plans that were challenging and enriching. When planning art lessons, I created activities that address the different interests and needs of students. Throughout my nine and a half years as an art teacher, I enjoyed collaborating with all levels of staff members, and established rapport with students to obtain discipline. I also worked with core subject and homeroom teachers to provide various interdisciplinary lessons. As an extracurricular activity, I supervised an art club in the Fall of 2014 once a week which provided students with various projects. Frequently, I always displayed student art work throughout the school for each grade level.
Using educational materials and assisting students in small groups or one on one with research information was achieved while I was an educator and tutor. I tutored students at Sylvan Learning Center several years ago in math, reading comprehension and study skills in the elementary grades through ninth grade. I love to learn and help children reach their academic goals. I am a mother of 12 year old girl/boy twins that are in seventh grade.
While in college, I took classes in all areas of art from ceramics, sculpture, painting and drawing. I studied several different artists and art styles and have educated my students in these areas throughout my nine and a half years of teaching. I love to see student's facial expressions when they see what they are about to create. I love using various materials and enjoy teaching new lessons frequently.
As an individual, I possess strong work ethics, flexibility, dependability and exceptional organizational skills. I have a passion to inspire student’s learning and meet their individual needs. I also have a passion for art and a love for learning. My absence from the field of education made me realize I miss creating fun art projects with students of all ages. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
