Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have a Masters degree from Baldwin Wallace University in Mild/Moderate as an Intervention Specialist. I have worked with several studies including my nephew for four years concerning ADD/ADHD. I understand the importance of having patience and loving them.

American History

I have a certification in Social Studies and Science along with a Master's degree. I have taught 3rd grade for 5 years, and 5th grade for 4 years. Currently I have been working with a local school district as their building sub for students 6-8th grade. I also tutor students in K-6 two times a week currently.

It is fun to let the students learn how our past history and lessons our forefathers learned can shape out present days life events and lead us into an exciting future. As an educator, I explore a lot of hands on learning to engage students into an exciting time of learning on material that can be pretty boring. American History is more than memorization and facts, it is about people, regions, civilizations and culture all influencing our history today.

Aspergers

I have a Masters degree from Baldwin Wallace University in Mild/Moderate as an Intervention Specialist. My education and the knowledge I gained through my studies have helped me tremendously in working with children and adult with Aspergers. I have a dear friend whose son has Aspergers and I have been apart of their lives since he was 5 years old. He is now 21 and I understand what he went through and my education helped me to work with him and to encourage my friend as well.
Edit

Autism

I have a Masters degree from Baldwin Wallace University in Mild/Moderate as an Intervention Specialist. My education and the knowledge I gained through my studies have helped me tremendously in working with children with Autism. My friend of 25 years adopted two African American boys with many delayed issues due to poor prenatal care and in addition different forms of Autism. They are sweet boys who need a lot of extra love and care and PATIENCE.

Bible Studies

I have studied at Central Bible College and feel that my personal walk with the Lord since I was 13 years old qualifies me. I have also taught in Christian Schools and I am very familiar with the different Bible stories and the studies over the years. Being very active in my church over the years, I have been a leader of different Bible studies. My personal experiences and my close relationships with the different pastors in my life qualify me to be able to teach and/or tutor Bible Studies.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified in Social Studies and Science along with having a Master's degree. I have taught 3rd grade for 5 years, and 5th grade for 4 years. I have been working with a local school district as their building sub for students 6-8th grade. I also tutor students in K-6 two times a week currently.

Elementary Math

I hold a math certificate from local college and worked with many students on the concepts found in Math.

ESL/ESOL

I work currently with a company out of Chicago that helps families relocate and obtain the required skills they need to be successful, which includes teaching ESL. I have also visited China and spent 5 weeks there working with their rural teachers to sharpen their speaking and writing skills.

Social Studies

I have a certificated in Social Studies and Science for grades 4th-9th along with a Master's degree. I have taught 3rd graded for 5 years, 5th for 4 years. Currently, I have been working with a local school district as their building sub for students 6-8th grade. I also tutor students in K-6 two times a week currently.

Social Studies is about looking at the past and learning from it and how to apply it to today's life without making the same mistakes. It also provides a foundation for our future...which is exciting to think about how our past influences our future!

Special Needs

I have a Masters degree from Baldwin Wallace University in Mild/Moderate as an Intervention Specialist. My education and the knowledge I gained through my studies have helped me tremendously in working with children and adult with Aspergers. I have additional knowledge on working with students with dyslexia. Hands on learning works wonders with these students to enhance their learning and retention ability.

I believe the more I am immersed into this arena, the more I learn about how to value students with special needs whether it is Aspergers, dyslexia, ADHD, slow learners, etc. They love to learn new concepts and people.
