Cleveland State University (Early Childhood)
To be and outstanding teacher, I believe that you must have a passion for helping children succeed to their full potential. As a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Cleveland State University, I have grown not only as an educator, but as a person as well. My first teaching experience was an internship at James. A Garfield elementary, where I taught kindergarten. I learned that dedication is an important part of teaching and I intend to be just as dedicated throughout my teaching career.
I specialize in tutoring students within grades kindergarten through third, all subjects included. I believe that each child has a different learning style that needs to be accommodated in order to meet their specific needs. I will assess the children's learning style and provide learning activities and opportunities based off of their skills and abilities.
Feedback and reflection is an important part of being an educator. My goal as an educator is to help children succeed to the best of my ability. I will not bill for any session that the student or parent is not completely satisfied with. I know that life happens and you may have to cancel a session. I do ask for at least a 1 hour cancellation notice in order to be as flexible with time as possible. If for any reason you must cancel, we will discuss opportunities to makeup the missed lesson.
While I do not currently have a specific tutoring location, I would prefer to tutor at a local library where the quiet atmosphere is conducive to learning. However, I am willing to consider other locations at your request.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you to be a successful learner! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I currently hold a Bachelor's of Education in Science degree from Cleveland State University, where I majored in Early Childhood Education. I have experience in teaching on the kindergarten and second grade level due to my student teaching experiences. My student teaching experience required me to plan and execute daily lesson plans that correlated with Ohio Common Core State Standards, as well as communicate effectively with the students, staff, and families.
