I am a language lover who has been given the gift of understanding the ins and outs of it very well. I studied abroad in Argentina and have spent time in the several other Spanish speaking countries (Peru, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Spain). I have a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Kent State University. In addition, I spent nearly three years as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching English where I also spent time studying Russian.
I can tutor all levels of Spanish and ESL. I can also tutor elementary and intermediate levels of Russian. Simon prepares, and is professional and helpful in developing language skills. He spoke entirely in Spanish, and exceeded my expectations of class. He did research on the theme, had a structure to the class and reinforced skills. Thank you!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native English speaker who has studied English, Spanish, and Russian extensively. Having learned Spanish and Russian, I have had to focus deeply on grammar, which has brought my understanding of my first level to a maximum.
I am really interested in extending my gift of English as a native language as well as my full understanding of the language.
I began studying Spanish just before and then while studying abroad in Argentina. After returning to the United States, I completed a degree in Spanish at Kent State University under professors who were almost all native speakers. I have also traveled to Peru, Puerto Rico, and Mexico and have many Spanish speaking friends with whom I only speak Spanish.
My main talent is speaking, but I have arrived to the level I am at through a complete understanding of grammar and language. My passion for Spanish has fueled me to continue educating myself while I work full-time as a translator.
