Every child and student learner is unique, and learn in a variety of ways. As an experienced and professional tutor, I use the "cookie-cutter" approach!

I received my Bachelor's of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, with a concentration in Family Life Education from Kent State University and my Master of Arts degree, in Teaching and Learning in Technology from Ashford University.

As a tutor , I am very passionate about helping your child excel through learning and become successful men and women. In my tutoring sessions, I use very organized and structured methods that are very unique and engaging to each child. It is my goal to meet the child and the student where the are, identifying and focusing on what they need, desire and want. I'm very open-minded, friendly, warm, and patient with every student that I meet. My focus is the student and doing what it takes to help them to succeed.

I'm very comfortable with working with children, ranging in infants/toddlers , pre-school, school-age, teenagers, college students and adults. I'm proficient in all subjects , with my speciality subjects being: Elementary Education, Career Development, Study Skills, and General Computers. I have my own transportation and able to travel up to my radius ( with the possibility of outside my radius) .

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

I have graduated and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree, in Human Development and Family Studies, concentrating in Family Life Education from Kent State University and a Master’s of Arts degree, in Teaching and Learning in Technology from Ashford University. I believe that my education and experience are well suited for this position.

Working in Direct Service with children and youth has been a strong passion for the over six years. Being able to educate and empower the future leaders of tomorrow warms my heart and allowed me to be a leader, mentor, advisor, and a therapist/counselor. I have worked in the capacity as a Youth Advisor and Mentor to at-risk youth in the urban communities and provided them with educational, enriching, and exciting opportunities and created a safe haven at a local community center. I have also worked with emotionally disturbed children in residential and partial hospitalization teaching Anger Management, Impulse Control, and Coping Mechanisms so that they can manage in home, school, and community.

Spending eight years in the classroom, I have obtained the knowledge and understanding of control, leadership, organization, and educator. I have worked as a Tutor to 6th-9th grade students in English, Science, and Math and a Instructional Aide in a 5th grade classroom. I have also worked as Adjunct Faculty, teaching University Orientation.

With over ten (10 years of experience in Management and being employed at various Human Services, Social Services, Non Profit, and Educational agencies, has taught me how to work with various age populations and cultural backgrounds. Currently, I am the Parent Involvement Coordinator for the Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland (CEOGC) Head Start. My role and responsibility are but not limited to overseeing the Parent Education department, developing and conducting parent education classes, workshops, and trainings that will empower, educate, and assist low income parents gain self sufficiency in the Head Start program. I am actively seeking employment that offers growth and career advancement opportunities

College Counseling

I am qualified to tutor students in college counseling because I have worked in the admissions department at Kent State University for four years. I have assisted and supported students in the decision to attend college and make the appropriate choices while in college.

Common Core

I have used the Common Core Standards in my work experience in Head Start and Elementary Education to help students to gain a better understanding of learning and development. I have worked with students in Pre-School and Kindergarten through High School to not just memorize information but apply to real life situations.

As a 5th grade teacher, I tutored students in Math and Science. In Math, we did a lot of group work that helped students to learn from others and provide examples to illustrate concepts.
During our ELA class, I helped students to learn how to analyze and draw conclusions on what they have read . I use creative arts to illustrate how to think critically when reading.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught 5th grade at a charter school in Cleveland, Ohio for 1 year and a half. I was the assistant teacher and taught all subjects. It was through my unique style of teaching that captivated my students; I made learning fun by making the subject matter relate to life. I incorporate group activities, discussions, games that make learning fun.

Elementary Science

I have taught 5th grade Elementary Education (Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies).

English

i have been employed in the Education field for over 12 years. I have taught 5th grade, all subjects. I tutored 6th-8th graders in Math and Science.

General Computer

I'm very proficient in General Computer knowledges. I have studied applied computer science while taking classes at Kent State University. I have provided technical support to many organizations and agencies , as well personal family and friends. I utilize a hands on learning approach when I teach , I feel that many of my students learn better when they are to learn while doing . My tutoring sessions are engaging , innovative and create a stimulating environment with ready made strategies that can be used immediately.

Grammar

I am very proficient and an expert with tutoring your child in Grammar. I taught Elementary Education for over 10 years. It's important to educate our children and youth on the proper way to speak and write. When I tutor kids, I teach and educate to the whole child and to the learning style that fit them. I use a variety of teaching methods, such as lecture, discussion, role play, online games, and props. I want to make learning fun and educational.

Handwriting

I am qualified to tutor Handwriting because I have worked with children and youth, from infants/toddlers, pre-school, school-agers, and Elementary school students for over 11 years. I have worked in a variety of schools and after school programs, teaching them how to properly write in print and in cursive.

I have used a curriculum and program called , "Handwriting Without Tears" to teach students in K-5 how to become a master at handwriting in the most easiest and efficient way. This program is a developmental teaching curriculum that allow children to quickly transition from learning the fundamentals of handwriting and focus more on the content and meaning of all different subjects I focus on the printing first until it is mastered, then I will wok on the cursive connections.

My teaching methods include practice worksheets that will be sent home and reinforce the learning in my tutoring sessions.

Marketing

I have worked in the field of Marketing and Public Relations as a Public Relations Assistant for 3 years. In this position , I was responsible for increasing the awareness and visibility of the company, through online Social Media Promotions.

I can teach and tutor students in the field of Marketing the basics of understanding Branding and Image, getting the word out about your product and business and being an online voice.

My teaching methods include textbook, group discussions, role plays, and hands-on experience.

Microsoft Access

I have taught a computer class entitled, Computers and YOU 101. An interactive, engaging introduction course to the basic computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general Internet knowledge and understanding. Upon completion of this course, participants will have the understanding and knowledge on the basic computer applications, Internet and E-mail; as well as how to utilize each of the applications in their daily personal and professional lives,

Microsoft PowerPoint is another excellent computer application that allows you to create presentations. I also taught myself how to use this application hand have been using for about 10-20 years. Its a lot of fun to use PowerPoint, you can add your own pictures, graphics,music , and videos. It definitely take a simple presentations and makes it more eye catching and appealing.

Microsoft Word

I have been using Microsoft for over 10-20 years. I have taught myself how to use Microsoft Word.. sit is a very great word processing application that allows you you to create, edit, and print documents. Microsoft Word is a one of the best word processing applications that allows any user enhance any document.

Nutrition

As an educator for over 15 years, I have taught Nutrition, Healthy Living and Healthy Eating to children, ages 6-14 years old in an after school program at the Boys and Girls Club. We used a curriculum entitled "Triple Play- Healthy Habits" and this was a twelve week curriculum that discussed the four food groups, what it means to eat healthy, be healthy and physically fit. At the conclusion of the twelve weeks, we had a National Fitness Day, where we applied everything we learned and engaged in fitness challenges.

I have been been speaking in front of crowds and audiences for over 10 years. I am a performance poet that has recorded and released her first spoken world album. I have also performed poetry in front of many crowds since the age of 14 year old. I have also taught 5th grade, school age, and college students. For the last year, I have co-hosted an Open Mic night. I enjoy working with people and helping them to deliver a message to the public that needs to be heard.

Study Skills
