My name is Susan and I would love to be your math tutor. After I stopped teaching to take care of my own children, I realized that what I enjoy most about teaching is working one on one with students to help them understand mathematics.
I have been substitute teaching in the Parma City School district for 12 years, but have not chosen to pursue a full time job in the regular classroom because I like the flexibility of subbing. I work as a math tutor at a Middle School program after school until the middle of April. This means that I have time in the late afternoons, evenings, and weekends to tutor students. I am also available in the summer.
I would like to meet with you and see what you are struggling with, and I would be happy to talk to your classroom teacher if that would help me find out how I can help you the most. My belief is that anyone can do Math and I can help you make sense out of mathematical concepts. I look forward to hearing from you! My name is Susan and I would love to be your math tutor. Susan is a great tutor. She is very patient and will work with you as you request. Susan is very responsive to emails and phone calls and is flexible with the scheduling. Great tutor. I will definitely recommend her and will use her again for other children if the need arises.
I was ready to give up on my online math course. I just can't do math on my own. I am so glad I reached out for help. Susan was wonderful, and I feel so much more confident now.
I have worked with her now for a couple of weeks and my opinion of her has just gotten better. One of my favorite things about her is that if she doesn't know something, she just says "I don't think I really know this." I have worked with people in the past that would never admit there was something that they were not 100% about, instead just pretended that they knew it. I ended up finding out after being tested that in fact they didn't. I would MUCH rather have someone say, "I don't know, but lets find out" than pretend.
If there was something that Susan didn't know (which wasn't much!) we would figure it out together, which was just as good because sometimes you just need to have someone to work with and bounce things off of for them to stick for you.
My only complaint is that she doesn't tutor in every subject I will be studying for my RN license!
She is very reliable, knowledgeable, and is always on time.
SUSAN IS A WONDERFUL TUTOR. She is observant of the student's strengths and -- more importantly -- weaknesses that the student must work on in order to experience academic success in general.
After my daughter's first tutoring session with Susan, my daughter felt so much more confident in her math skills. The very next day after class she indicated that, in her class group, she was able to contribute more and was correct with her answers. My daughter was so excited, that she texted me right away after class and was even excited for the next day. Thank you Susan, hearing my daughter excited and confident makes me very happy.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
