My name is Daryl and I love to teach! I am a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Ohio University, where I received a bachelors degree in History. I have worked in several museums as a tour guide and also as a substitute teacher. I loved teaching people and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the people learn something new!
I have taken graduate course work at Wright State University, but I am currently working on my education degree to be a teacher and a business degree.
One of my specialties is English. I have a lot of experience in reading complex materials at the graduate level and have the know how to write about what I have read in paper. I also have experience with tough vocabulary and know how to use context clues or other resources to figure words out.
My other specialty is in history. History is more than memorizing dates! It is about studying the past so we can understand the future. I have able experience in analyzing historical documents and forming arguments based on primary and secondary resources.
If you would like to know more about me, please feel free to contact me. I am dedicated to you or your child's success! My name is Daryl and I love to teach! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
More about my reading experience
I have read a wide variety of materials, such as short stories, biographies, fiction, non-fiction, and primary documents, such as historical letters. I have been trained in how to find the author's main point in a book, scholarly article, or reading passage, and how to pinpoint the author's supporting evidence. I also know how to use context clues in reading and how to analyze the plot in a fictional story. I believe I have the experience needed to help anyone be a better reader!
