University of Cincinnati (Master's)
I have a lot of experience in teaching math both in the classroom and tutoring students at home. While with Cincinnati Public Schools I was the math department head at several different schools and did most of the home visit math studies for students who were not able to come to school because of chronic sickness or injury. I also did my time with the district's tutoring lines. Because of my experience in this area I was also one of the people recommended by the district to students who had trouble in their senior year passing the Ohio Graduation Exam. Every student I helped passed the exam in time to graduate.
In addition, my math career includes an almost 10 year stint teaching in the University of Cincinnati's Upward Bound program. My basic duties were teaching Saturday math enrichment in four different high school levels. Basic course work was algebras I & II, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. I also had sections on statistics and pre-calculus. During the summers I also taught their math courses during the 6 week residency sections. This also included tutoring students on Wednesday evenings.
I am a student centered educator who is very adept at quickly learning student's learning styles and adapting my lesson to their style and ability.
During my career I have successfully taught students how to know and understand math. With few exceptions, my students came out of my classes and sessions feeling confident in their ability to do math. I won't promise you that you will love math after being with me, but I do know that you will no longer fear math.

Thanks for getting him moving, we have tried. He was able to move on and passed his test. We are grateful.
My son was having trouble with Geometry and had recently failed a big test. Larry helped him get back on track and now has a B+ average in the class. He was instrumental to understanding geometry for my son.
Lawrence came to our home with a pleasant attitude. Lawrence was very down to earth in his approach with my 12 grader son. Lawrence tutored my son with College Algebra, Trigonometry. Lawrence tutored in an interactive manner with my son and his style built up my son's self confidence. We will definitely contact Lawrence again for more math tutoring.
Lawrence helped me understand trigonometry in my pre-calculus class. He walked me through the Unit Circle and sine, cosine, and tangent, inverses, etc. He also worked through examples with me. I highly suggest him as a tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
