About Jacob

Jacob D. (b. 1990) was raised in Melbourne, Florida. In addition to his piano studies from the age of five, Jacob began studying percussion in middle school, and would go on to seek a Bachelor's in Music Performance at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. While at USF, Jacob studied with renowned percussionist and teacher Robert McCormick, until graduating in 2013. In the fall of that same year, Jacob and his wife moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, beginning their coursework at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. There he studies with the Percussion Group Cincinnati, and is currently a Music Theory graduate assistant teaching several courses in the 2014-2015 academic year. Performing a variety of literature, Jacob is a strong proponent for new and contemporary music, as well as the collaborative process to commission and premiere new works.

While in Florida, Jacob held a private studio of approximately 40-50 students participating in weekly lessons in addition to both Winter & Spring recitals. Jacob is a passionate teacher, going above and beyond to invest not only in his student's musical abilities and knowledge, but also their character and ideologies towards the artist's place and impact on our society today. Currently in Cincinnati, Jacob continues to teach a variety of students in the areas of piano (performance), percussion (performance), and music theory in both private and classroom settings. Jacob can be found on a number of albums available through Ravello Records as well as a featured Marimba solo on Max Lifchitz's album "Rhythmic Soundscape" released by North South Recordings.
