Edgecliff College of Xavier University (B.A. Psychology)
M.A. Educational Foundations; Post Baccalaureate Certification in Elementary Education (Master's)
As a substitute teacher I learned that the field of education was one in which I was very interested. I began to tutor for children in foster care through Jobs and Family Services of Cincinnati, Ohio and Children's Home of Cincinnati, Ohio while pursuing my certification in Elementary Education (1-8).
I also tutored students for Cincinnati Public Schools who were homebound due to medical or academic reasons. I enjoyed the one on one contact with students because it allowed me to invest my total attention in helping students to meet their full potential. I have helped many foster children make up for educational deficits that they have encountered in their lives; some are college students today.
One of the goals of each tutoring sessions is to make sure that students fully understand the material that they have to work with.
I took Math throughout Elementary and High School i.e., (Elementary Math, Algebra I, II, Geometry, and Trigonometry)and got A's and B's in these subjects.
I have tutored many Junior High, Senior High school, and GED students in English and Literature for 10 years.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Post Baccalaureate Certification in Elementary Education. I taught the elementary curriculum for grades 1-6 for 18 years as a classroom teacher before retiring in 2009.
