Hello! A little info about me... I love to teach! It's as simple (and challenging) as that. As a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program at Northern Kentucky University, and a published co-author of a journal entry to The Journal of Ethnomathematics, I love all levels of math! I truly love to share that love through teaching and my specialty is tutoring algebra through college level calculus. Oooh, I just love to teach trig and calculus! I also love to help people excel at exams like the ACT, SAT, GRE, etc., and get on to their life's dreams! My personal theory is that nothing should ever hold you back from your dreams, especially something as silly as math or standardized tests.
I have been a professional private tutor for over 10 years, so I know exactly where the "tough" parts are of any math course, as well as how to painlessly get you through it. I know math theory inside and out, and I believe that it is important to know the theory to understand and do well. That being said, I know when to use "tricks" and I have plenty of mnemonic devices to show you. I have tutored all stages of "math love", from engineering students down to the truly "math-phobic". I have helped people do well in courses who were failing after the first test. I have helped people raise ACT scores by more than 10 points. If you are motivated, I can help!
Please contact me if I can help you to get to your goal.
Blaire Hello! A little info about me... I love to teach! It's as simple (and challenging) as that. As a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program at Northern Kentucky University, and a published co-author of a journal entry to The Journal of Ethnomathematics, I love all levels of math! Blaire is extremely dedicated to her students. She traveled to meet with my daughter in person and was so effective that my daughter pleaded for me to get extra appointments with Blaire before her ACT. I wish we had found Blaire sooner!
Is so helpful and willing to show me the best methods for my learning abilities!! I don't know how I could of gotten through this semester without her!
So far she has helped me build off of my original ACT prep that could only get me around a 25. I am excited to see improvement in my test taking abilities. She is great at understanding how students like me see the test and then taking that and using it to our atvantage in the test, and if it doesn't work she has many other great tips and tricks to help students get a higher score on the ACT/SAT.
My daughter really enjoyed her sessions with Blaire. Came home talking how hip she was, how knowledgeable, and how she was able to relate to her right away. They jumped right in and she felt she learned something on the very first session. From a parent stand-point, she was very quick in responses, accommodating in a meeting place, and felt very at home speaking directly to my 17 year old. Even texting her good luck prior to her ACT the morning of it. My daughter really enjoyed their time.
Blaire is very Knowledgeable and friendly. She knows her students strengths and Weakness’ very well. With help of Blaire my daughter is able to maintain her grade.
Blaire works with my daughter on tutoring for ACT. I am very impressed with the level of preparation and thoughtfulness that she brings to the lesson. ACT prep can be dry for the student, but I appreciate Blaire's patience and creativity in keeping the session as interesting as possible.
I enjoyed my session with Blaire. She's very down-to-earth and has a... gentle aura about her that made me feel comfortable asking questions. She also was able to handle my very quick barrage of questions (we went in many directions). Recommended.
My daughter started getting Cs on tests and quizzes in Algebra II after math had always been her "thing". Blaire worked with her several times, leading up to the final exam and my daughter's scored a 94 on the exam! Blaire knows her stuff, is fun to work with, and she traveled (to different locations) to meet us. At the risk of making her more popular, I would highly recommend her.
Blaire is really a great tutor. She is tutoring both of my kids, who are juniors in high school with Pre calculus and AP Calculus. She is very knowledgeable and her passion for the subject really comes through. Highly recommended!
Blaire was awesome! She is very knowledgable in the area I needed tutoring in. She helped me reach (and go above) the GRE score I was aiming for. She explains concepts in a way that a non-math student can understand and built my test taking confidence up tremendously!
She is very patient with my impatience and lack of understanding. She answers all my questions well and actually teaches me something that I didn't know before we started the session. It's money well spent. She's one of the best tutors I have found at WyzAnt.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
