The languages include Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, and Sanskrit. I am interested in all aspects of Religion. I have studied both the original languages and the primary texts related to Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. The languages include Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, and Sanskrit. The texts include the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament), The Septuagint (the Greek Old Testament), The Apocrypha, The Greek New Testament, the writings of the Church Fathers, the Qur'an, and the Vedas. I have also been introduced to the primary texts of other religions in the English language.

I have an avid interest in learning the languages of sacred literature, learning the background for each piece of literature and learning how to interpret the literature. This interpretation is based upon a thorough analysis of the language, text and background for the text.

I have been given several opportunities to teach Greek at various levels, New Testament Introduction, Ephesians, 1 Corinthians, Romans, James, World Religions, Church History, Old Testament Survey and textual Exegesis. My master's thesis was on Hermeneutical Models. This paper analyzed various systems of interpreting texts and proposed a new system for understanding the process of interpretation. I am currently researching the Greek verbal system. My PhD dissertation is on the verbal aspect of Greek Perfect tenses, which involves sifting through competing views, while finding commonalities between opposing views.

I have tutored diverse students particularly in languages and exegesis of those languages. These students I tutored were able to excel in the class because of my tutoring, in spite of starting the course being deficient in one or more skills which the course demanded.

I am an experienced student-paper editor, who critiques the student papers with an eye for what is publish-worthy. Many of the papers I have proofread and helped them edit have become published within the academic field of the student.

Greek,

Greek

I have over 21 hours of graduate level Greek coursework in addition to my undergraduate work in Greek. I have taught Greek at various levels to include the first four semesters of Greek. This progression is usually two semesters of vocabulary and grammar, followed by at least a semester of syntax. Then, the fourth (or following) semester uses an exegetical method to analyze texts written in Greek. I have taught groups as well as tutored individuals. Learning Greek is like building a house. First you dig and pour the foundation. This is what the first and second semester does. Next, you build the frame and roof. This is what a syntax semester or year does. Lastly, you put in the electrical wiring, plumbing and other fixtures. This is what Exegesis does. A learner must have a good foundation before moving on to Syntax and Exegesis. My role as a tutor is to assist learners in either filling in foundational gaps or moving on in the learning process. I also have published several critical reviews of popular Greek Grammars, Linguistic works, and interpretive tools for Greek texts.
Hebrew,

Hebrew

I have over 18 hours of graduate level studies in the Hebrew language. This is in addition to my undergraduate work. I also have studied Aramaic, which is a similar although different language. I am able to tutor learners in the basics of grammar, vocabulary, syntax and exegesis. I have also reviewed many of the major grammars for Hebrew and evaluated their strengths and weaknesses.

I have taught Bible in both the High School and College setting for several years. I have developed and prepared course material, lectured, administered tests, graded tests and facilitated the courses for the academic year. I have done this for in-class, online, and hybrid courses. I integrated various pedagogical methods with the course content to enhance the learning potential for learners with differing learning styles. I also coordinated the learning objectives of the class with the objectives of the accreditation body ensuring a mutual understanding of the validity of the course content. I cultivated a learning environment and encouraged students and instilled confidence in them when they doubted their own abilities.

I am a person who approaches knowledge fairly, and who appreciates people of faith traditions different from my own. Exceptional!

Every class makes me more excited to study deeper. Dr Sedlacek has a vast knowledge base of church history, the manuscripts, and doctrine.

The five stars rates my response

He responded to the items with which I needed assistance. Apparently the view of tutoring is different from the one I have. My view is that the tutor responds to the needs that the student has. I expressed with I needed help with prior to the session; the prof. more than adequately responded. Case closed until we meet again tomorrow.

Great tutor for my thesis proposal (lesson 3)

James helped me understand how to rationalize me research and methodology, and gave me suggestions on how to support that. We went over some of my writing and found some weaknesses in my rationale, and we worked on how to improve those areas. He also helped translate my research method ideas into a methodology I’m going to be using. He listens well and motives me with all his suggestions. He’s very helpful, kind and knowledgeable!

Great tutor for my thesis proposal (lesson 2)

James helped me polish up my thesis proposal introduction. We went over some APA style rules, and reviewed the content of my intro. He gave me some tips on how to condense my writing. He’s very knowledgeable, kind, and answered all my questions :)

Great tutor for my thesis proposal

James helped me understand and develop clarity in my thesis proposal question and my introduction leading up to it. He also helped me with my methodology section by providing his knowledge of research methods, and sent me some useful references to help guide me. He is very approachable and kind, and answered all my questions. :)

Very knowledgeable

I’m particularly grateful for the vast experience and knowledge of professor James. He had broadened and enriched my learning experience. Learning Biblical Greek is a serious endeavor. It can seem overwhelming! Fortunately, James breaks it down into bite-size pieces. Anybody can learn Greek with the proper support.

exceptional!

James breadth of knowledge concerning the entire Bible as well as church history and other relating doctrinal/translational ideas is impressive. He is able to help me learn Greek grammar better while explaining the reasoning and difficulties behind various translations and such. We are going through Mark very slowly and I couldn’t be more excited to continue learning.
