Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus Ohio (Liberal Arts)
Now retired, I was originally educated in Commercial and Fine Art at the Columbus College of Art and Design and The Ohio State University. I was for several decades required to put my artistic ambitions aside to care for my disabled husband. So, I did this by earning an RN license, with a focus on hospice care for over twenty years, until my husband passed away recently. Before going into nursing, I exhibited and sold my art in many juried shows and galleries throughout Greater Cleveland.
I currently am combining my healthcare and artistic expertise with enrollment in an ART Therapy course. So, I am both a lifelong student and teacher. I have excellent communication skills, having been a supportive, compassionate and professional hospice nurse, and I am again an active, practicing artist.
I have always excelled at English, and I have excellent grammar. But I also relate to people at their own comfort level. I understand the failings of our school systems, as well as the personal circumstances that may interfere with one's achievements. I have dedicated my adult life to helping people in whatever way I can, whether in skill-building, or in a more holistic mind-body-spirit approach that enhances growth.
My technical skills in the visual arts have long been recognized by my professional peers and the public. I have won awards in many juried shows, have sold much, and I have the training and discipline to produce quality results. My work appeared at the May Show of the Cleveland Art Museum, Lakeland Community College, The Valley Art Center, The Mayfield Public Library and in various galleries.
I look forward to sharing the skills and knowledge I have been blessed with to help others achieve their goals. If a student believes there's always room for improvement, I will be glad to offer the same encouragement, patience and enlightenment that's been passed on to me.
