I have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Youngstown State University with a minor in Mathematics. I scored within the top 2% in the country when I took my ACT/SAT tests. I have tutored Algebra and Trigonometry at the high school level, as well as, college level business math. I try to add examples and practical applications to the standard textbook approach. I believe that knowing how math can be used to solve everyday problems makes the concepts and applications make more sense.

George tutored my granddaughter for the ACT. He showed her how to take shortcuts in solving math problems, taught her strategy and test taking skills. She had 8 hours of tutoring and increased her ACT composite score from 24 to 28. Her science score went from 23 to 31!!! This increase in ACT score bumped up her academic scholarship from $12,000 per year to $16,000 per year.
George is a great tutor! He taught my son all the strategies he needed for his ACT test. My son went up 4 points on his ACT! So pleased!!
We went over factoring and working with polynomials. He was very patient and listened and understood what I needed to solve the problems. I had a few aha moments, which made me feel like I'm actually learning.
Our high school junior is being tutored in physics and act testing, and George has helped him "get it" with many aha! moments.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a business owner, for 9 years, I provided start up and operations support services for other small businesses. This included help with setting up LLC's (limited liability companies), providing computer and networking support, and assisting with process improvements. In addition, I have previously tutored college students in business mathematics, including operations research.
I have earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering from Youngstown State University. A bachelor of engineering degree has more stringent requirements than a bachelor of science degree and includes courses in all of the engineering disciplines (industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, and civil). My coursework completed includes statics, dynamics, and strength of materials. I also have over 20 years of manufacturing engineering experience along with mentoring junior engineers.
I have been a Microsoft Windows user for over 20 years, starting with Windows 95 & 98. I have extensive experience with Windows XP and Windows 7. As a business owner, I have assisted individuals and small businesses with installing and uninstalling software; managing or transferring files and folders; and using system, security, and recovery tools.
As part of my Bachelor of Engineering degree from Youngstown State University, I completed a minor in mathematics and a minor in science, with coursework completed in physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, and geology.
