I am a retired special education teacher with a current teaching certificate in special education and an expired one in regular education. I have patience with students in regular education, special ed and students with ADHD. When my children were young, I did private tutoring and substituted in regular education. My years in special education were spent as an intervention teacher, and a full class ED and LD teacher.
I presently teach a GED class for 4 hours a week. I would like to resume tutoring children, as I so enjoy working with them. My rapport with children is very good, and they warm up to me quickly. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
