I have experience working with children all my life and I have three years of classroom experience, and the desire to provide all students with an excellent education. My teaching career has been geared toward the empowerment of school children. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into well-rounded, responsible, and successful individuals. I have had an opportunity to teach diverse groups of students, including those with learning disabilities, those who performed at grade level, those who were gifted and those that are ELD and ESL. As a result I have become proficient in creating stimulating lesson plans, which accommodate multiple intelligences, bring a hands-on approach to learning, and keep students interested and focused.
My greatest strengths include motivating students and promote participation in the educational process, reinforce and boost students’ self-confidence, self-esteem and team building. Making connections between the classroom and everyday life is a valuable asset that I incorporate in my lessons.
I have worked with all age groups and have built a great rapport, not only with the staff and administration, but most importantly with the students. Taking on the role of not only being a teacher, but also coaching has allowed me to place an emphasis on determination, team building, hard work, goal setting and perseverance. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my elementary education degree in grades pre K-5. I have over 8 years in the education field. I have mostly worked with Special needs students and love watching them grow and grasp new concepts. I have been tutoring for after school programs and on the side for 5 years now.
